Is My 7-Week-Old Baby Too Old for Professional Newborn Pictures?
It’s a common question: “Is my baby too old for newborn photos?” While the ideal window for newborn photography is often considered the first two weeks, every baby is unique, and age shouldn’t be a dealbreaker. A happy and content baby at 7 weeks old can still make for a successful photo session!
Newborn shoots typically capture those sleepy, curled-up poses, but by 7 weeks, your baby may be more alert. However, that doesn’t mean beautiful, memorable images can’t be achieved. If your little one is comfortable and content, you’ll have a great session.
Recently, I photographed a 7-week-old baby, and she was simply incredible. She stayed awake for the entire shoot, which gave us the chance to capture her bright eyes and expressions. Despite being awake, she was calm and happy throughout. Her older siblings were involved too, cuddling with her, creating some heartwarming family moments. The photos captured the bond between them, and her mum couldn’t have been more pleased with the final results.
So, don’t hesitate to schedule that session even if your baby is past the typical “newborn” stage. Every baby’s temperament is different, and as long as your little one is content, there’s no reason the session won’t go smoothly. Whether your baby is awake or asleep, those moments are precious and worth capturing!
