I love working with families. Capturing the love and all the connections is so amazing.

Family sessions at Captured by Elly photography are a mix of lifestyle and posed compositions. I take couple of shots of the kids, mom and dad and all together. I believe that kids have to be kids, so I encourage them to play , while I do what I love – portraits!

Styling, Location, Weather.

The styling is a very essential part of the family photo shoot. During the initial consultation we discuss outfit options. Usually mom wears a maxi dress or skirt. I have a few available dresses at the studio, that I offer, too. After we agree on mums outfit, we plan the clothing for the rest of the gang, so the colours and the styles go together perfectly.

Location…Well Sydney is full of amazing location. I always ask my clients if they have a favourite location. If they are open to suggestions, I have some great spots for their family photo session as well. Whether a beach, a park or a bushy spot, we will have a lot of fun capturing family love.

Weather – well, all of us prefer a nice weather for the photography session, but Sydney weather can be unpredictable sometimes. We can always reschedule, but a dramatic sky on a rainy day is an incredible backdrop for family photos. Best time for a session is one hour prior to sunset, so we can have those dreamy colours.

I loved doing Lisa’s family photo session – we had so much fun. The weather was fantastic and the sun was peeking behind the clouds for some backlit photos. We chose a bushy location. I have to say I am in love with the photos. And so are they.
